The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is inviting applications for the position of Head of Administration for the Hong Kong Center for Renewable Energy and Storage (HKCRES).

HKCRES is established under the SEAM@InnoHK scheme to serve as a hub for advanced research in renewable energy and energy storage in Hong Kong. The appointee will play a key role in supporting the Center’s strategic development and daily operation.

Reporting to the Center Director, the successful candidate will be a core member of the Center’s management team and will lead the administrative function of HKCRES. The position will be based at the Hong Kong Science Park in Shatin, with frequent travel to the University’s Clear Water Bay Campus as required.

 

key responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing and managing the administrative operations of the Center, including finance and accounting, human resources, procurement, information technology, and budget monitoring

  • Developing, implementing and reviewing operating policies, procedures and internal controls to support effective and compliant Center operations

  • Leading and supervising a team of professional and support staff to deliver comprehensive administrative services aligned with the Center’s needs

  • Serving as a key point of contact for internal University offices and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient day to day operations

  • Coordinating with investors, academic and industrial partners, government bodies, and other external parties in support of the Center’s research and business activities

  • Supporting management planning, resource allocation and continuous improvement initiatives for the Center

 

Requirements

Applicant should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in business administration or a related discipline

  • At least 10 years of post qualification experience at managerial level, preferably acquired in a tertiary institution, research centre or R&D environment

  • Strong leadership, organisational and people management skills, with proven ability to manage operations and deliver results under pressure

  • Solid experience in budget management for projects and regular operations

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and strategic thinking skills

  • Experience interacting with investors, venture capital firms, industry partners or external stakeholders would be an advantage

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)

 

Remuneration and COnditions of Service

Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  The appointment is expected to commence as soon as possible.
