The Power Semiconductors and Applications Center (PowerSAC), established under the SEAM@InnoHK initiative, is seeking a motivated Assistant Engineer to support the RP3 research programme focused on AI-assisted design for next-generation power electronics.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the appointee will provide hands-on laboratory and experimental support across multiple sub-projects, contributing to device characterisation, prototype development, and testing activities.

 

key responsibilities

 

  • Conduct semiconductor device characterisation measurements (e.g. I-V, C-V, switching waveforms)

  • Assemble and test power converter prototypes, including validation and performance testing

  • Support closed-loop testing and thermal measurement activities for GaN/SiC-based systems

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring calibration, availability, and safe operation

  • Manage experimental datasets, ensuring data quality, traceability, and accessibility

  • Provide support to engineers and researchers on test setup, data collection, and hardware preparation

  • Assist in maintaining laboratory safety compliance and documentation

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related discipline

  • 1–3 years’ relevant laboratory experience in power electronics or semiconductor environments

  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation and testing procedures

  • Familiarity with device characterisation and prototype testing; PCB design experience is an advantage

  • Basic programming (Python/MATLAB) for data processing preferred

  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese

 

Remuneration and COnditions of Service
