Power Semiconductors and Applications Center (PowerSAC), established under the InnoHK initiative, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the RP4 research programme. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of high-frequency, high-power-density passive components, including dielectric capacitors and magnetic inductors, for advanced power conversion systems.

 

Duties

The appointee will:

  • Conduct research on advanced high-frequency passive components for next-generation power applications.
  • Design, process and optimise materials and component prototypes, including dielectric and magnetic component technologies.
  • Perform electrical, magnetic, reliability and performance characterisation, using modelling and experimental data to guide component optimisation.
  • Prepare scientific publications, intellectual property disclosures, technical reports and project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with international academic partners, industry collaborators and funding stakeholders on research and technology transfer activities.
  • Assist in the supervision, training and development of research students and junior research staff.

 

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A PhD in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Up to two years of post-PhD research experience. Experience in passive components, dielectric materials, magnetic materials or power electronics is preferred.
  • Research experience in passive components, dielectric or magnetic materials, or power conversion systems.
  • Hands-on experience in materials processing, component prototyping and electrical or magnetic characterisation techniques.
  • Experience in modelling, simulation and data analysis relating to materials or electronic components.
  • Strong experimental, analytical, scientific writing and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication, collaboration and mentorship skills.
  • Proficiency in both English and Chinese.

 

Remuneration And Conditions of Service

  • Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
