The Hong Kong Generative AI Research & Development Center (HKGAI) was established in October 2023, focusing on the research and development of generative artificial intelligence technologies. It is one of the research centers under the InnoHK program, a key initiative of the Hong Kong SAR Government. Led by Prof. Yike Guo, the Provost of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, HKGAI collaborates with four local top-tier institutions: The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, as well as the internationally renowned National University of Singapore. HKGAI focuses on developing a series of Multimodal, Multilingual Foundation Models, vertical Foundation Models, and also the tailor-made applications for Hong Kong society. In addition, HKGAI conducts research on ethics, security, and governance in generative AI technologies and applications, providing consultation and recommendations to the HKSAR Government. HKGAI will strive to enhance the role of Hong Kong's innovation and technology industry in promoting economic progress in the Greater Bay Area, cultivating AI talent and ecosystem in Hong Kong, and increasing Hong Kong's global influence in the fields of AI research and application.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct human resource planning based on the center's business plan to ensure that the organizational structure, quality and quantity of personnel are in line with the center's development.
  • Ensure the implementation and execution of all human resource regulations, policies, and procedures in the local area.
  • Develop comprehensive human resource solutions in accordance with the requirements of the center director and the demands of local business to support business growth and development.
  • Establish a performance appraisal system, including annual evaluations, promotion, and salary increase rules.
  • Organize and promote corporate culture construction, and manage cadres and team building of the organizations under jurisdiction.

 

REQUIREMENTs

  • Bachelor's degree or above from a full-time university; over 10 years of experience in human resources.
  • Proficient in the practical operation of all modules of human resources in technology companies. Candidates with experience in Internet or electronic software companies, especially those serving Hong Kong clients, are preferred.
  • Rich practical and implementation experience in the job grade system, salary structure, year-end assessment, performance evaluation, and promotion and salary increase rules of science and technology innovation and Internet companies.
  • Familiar with relevant laws and policies in China and Hong Kong.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and dedication, able to withstand high work pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills and a track record of good professional ethics.
  • Work location: Hong Kong (mandatory).

 

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract with a duration of 2 years or above, where applicable. (Duration: 2 years, renewable subject to performance, mutual agreement, and funding availability)

The appointment is expected to commence as soon as possible.
