The Hong Kong Generative AI Research & Development Center (HKGAI) was established in October 2023, focusing on the research and development of generative artificial intelligence technologies. It is one of the research centers under the InnoHK program, a key initiative of the Hong Kong SAR Government. Led by Prof. Yike Guo, the Provost of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, HKGAI collaborates with four local top-tier institutions: The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, City University of Hong Kong, as well as the internationally renowned National University of Singapore. HKGAI focuses on developing a series of Multimodal, Multilingual Foundation Models, vertical Foundation Models, and also the tailor-made applications for Hong Kong society. In addition, HKGAI conducts research on ethics, security, and governance in generative AI technologies and applications, providing consultation and recommendations to the HKSAR Government. HKGAI will strive to enhance the role of Hong Kong's innovation and technology industry in promoting economic progress in the Greater Bay Area, cultivating AI talent and ecosystem in Hong Kong, and increasing Hong Kong's global influence in the fields of AI research and application.

 

Key responsibilities

• Lead the financial planning of the center, formulate financial strategies based on the center's goals, and provide professional advice for major financial decisions.
• Be responsible for the financial assessment of the center's innovative projects before they go into production, including cost-effectiveness, return on investment, risk estimation, etc., to ensure that the projects meet financial expectations.
• Coordinate the overall budget preparation of the center, supervise its implementation, conduct regular deviation analysis and correction, and optimize the cost structure.
• Lead the finance team to complete financial accounting, prepare and analyze financial statements, and provide accurate financial analysis reports for the management.
• Be responsible for the establishment and management of the financial team, ensure the compliance of financial work, improve the internal control system, and prevent financial risks.

 

REQUIREMENTs

• Bachelor's degree or above from well-known domestic and foreign universities, majoring in business administration, investment or related fields.
• More than 10 years of experience in industry operation and management or financial management. Those with executive experience in listed companies or who have led major financial projects are preferred.
• Proficient in financial management, skilled in using financial software and office software, familiar with the operation rules of the capital market, tax planning and financing channels.
• Possess strategic vision and business thinking, and be adept at promoting the integration of finance and business. Have leadership and communication and coordination skills.
• Be familiar with the financial characteristics and operation mode of Hong Kong, and be able to optimize financial management strategies by integrating the cutting-edge concepts of the industry.

 

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract with a duration of 2 years or above, where applicable. (Duration: 2 years, renewable subject to performance, mutual agreement, and funding availability)
