Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellow / Associate Research Scientist

Hong Kong Space Robotics and Energy Centre Limited (HKSRE) is a new InnoHK R&D Centre established in January 2025 specializing in developing multifunctional operation robot with mobile charging capability. With The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) as the leading institution in collaboration with local and international institutions, HKSRE aims to contribute to national space missions, promote the application of space technology and advance aerospace research and development in Hong Kong.

 

responsibilities 

  • Lead or assist in research projects involving robotic technologies for space. The tasks may include one or several of below items.

    1. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists to design, prototype, and validate robotic systems.

    2. Conduct experiments, analyse results, and prepare technical documentation.

    3. Support simulation, testing, and deployment of robotic systems in simulated and real-world space scenarios.

 

Requirements

  • A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM discipline is required.
  • Hands-on experience in robotic system design, and/or programming, and/or testing, preferably in space or extreme environment contexts.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB, depending on the specific duties.
  • Understanding of control systems, AI, perception, and autonomy in robotics, depending on the specific duties.
  • Excellent research motivation, independent working capability, and strong communication skills.
  • Candidates with relevant work experience will be given priority in consideration.

 

Remuneration and COnditions of Service

Salary is highly competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  The appointment is expected to commence as soon as possible.
